Poverty, ignorance, war, sickness, and hunger. These are ancient scourges that persist in modern times. They continue to cause untold suffering and loss of human dignity and freedom. They endanger humanity. Let's fight them together, by being human and full of faith.

COMPASSIONWEAVERS implies both teamwork and solidarity, in the great and necessary work of building a better world. By working together, we hope to better the situation for the poor of Haiti, and hopefully beyond. The Religious Community known as The Passionists, is the coordinating sponsor. Other essential sponsors are listed on the last page of this website, Investing in Humanity.

Together we have a simple belief: our faith must lead to works or it is lifeless.

We believe that God is love, and love generates life, and we want to generate life. We believe we are made in God's image, that we are destined for eternity, and that God so wants this for us that we were worth the blood of Christ.

This gives us a triple dignity: we are made by God, redeemed by Christ and destined for eternal life. We want to fight everything that destroys this great human dignity.

One last thought, for now. When Christ suffered His brutal Passion, there was a powerful grace present that transformed His suffering so that it gave the fruit of eternal life and light.

Many people today, bearing terrible suffering and laden with heavy burdens, long for this transforming power. This power is available to us through God's abiding grace, and is made manifest through the tough work of mercy.

These pages will show you some of those tough works of mercy.
